The background is that there will only be one sporty climber from the 2nd division. The winners from Medipolis SC Jena and Rostock Seawolves will play in the elite league next season. The other two semi-finalists Bayer Giants Leverkusen and Tigers Tübingen had waived an application.
So there is now a chance for the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt and the Giessen 46ers, who have been relegated from the Bundesliga. The clubs have also agreed to initiate the procedure after the semi-final series between Rostock and Jena on May 16th.
“The 10-day period according to §15 BBL license statute begins on this day. Interested clubs must submit their application with the necessary documents and evidence in writing to BBL GmbH within this period,” said the BBL in a statement. After examining the applications, the shareholders’ meeting decides which applicant has acquired the right to participate.
