Cup winners Bayern Munich took advantage of ratiopharm Ulm’s mistake in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and consolidated second place.
Thanks to a strong final quarter, the Munich team clearly prevailed against the Bamberg Baskets with 91:69 (44:39) and now have a record of eleven wins and three defeats. Master Ulm, who lost against Rasta Vechta on Saturday (102:106 n.V.), is in third place with a 12:4 record.
Bayern won the game with a furious final quarter (34:16). Sylvain Francisco was the top scorer with 17 points, ex-NBA star Serge Ibaka and teammate Carsen Edwards were also accurate (both 16). Kevin Wohlfarth stood out for Bamberg with 14 points.
Alba Berlin used the momentum of the first away win in the EuroLeague on Friday evening in Lyon and won against their direct competitor Würzburg Baskets in their own hall with 90:82 (42:37). The Albatrosses, led by Sterling Brown with 17 points, moved into fourth place with the win. Würzburg slipped to the final play-off place, sixth place.
The Syntainics MBC defeated their table neighbors Tigers Tübingen in an offensive spectacle with 114:78 (54:36). MBC guard Johnathan Stove was unstoppable with 25 points.
