With their seventh win in a row, champion Alba Berlin has reduced the gap to leaders Telekom Baskets Bonn in the basketball Bundesliga.
The capital club won against Brose Bamberg on Friday with 89:57 (41:24) and with a record of 23 wins and six defeats has only one success less than the leader (24:7). Alba has also played two games less. The former series champion Bamberg (15:16) remains tenth in the table and threatens to miss the playoffs.
The game in Berlin was actually decided after the first quarter. Alba dominated the match from the start and after ten minutes only allowed Bamberg to score eight points. Coach Israel Gonzalez’s team extended their lead to 17 points before the break.
After the change of sides, the defending champion had no problems with the weak guests and outclassed the former German top team. Berlin’s center Christ Koumadje hit the winner best with 14 points. All twelve Alba players were able to score.
ratiopharm Ulm (20:10) was able to make the playoff participation perfect with a 80:73 (40:33) at medi Bayreuth. Due to the away win, coach Jaka Lakovic’s team can no longer be forced out of the places that entitle them to the knockout stage four games before the end of the season. Bayreuth (11:21), on the other hand, suffered their eleventh defeat in a row.
