Bayern star should extend – or go

Robert Lewandowski’s future: It’s the all-important question at Bayern Munich. Does he stay, does he go? Slowly things seem to be gaining momentum – there should be clarity by the summer.

Is a decision about the future of top scorer Robert Lewandowski approaching at FC Bayern? According to a report by “Sport Bild”, this should probably fall by summer at the latest – and either Lewandowski will extend (contract until 2023) or he will be sold.

In the course of the second half of the season, further talks between the club and the player’s management should take place. Bayern’s priority seems clear: the world footballer should definitely extend, but not at any price. There seem to be two models: a contract extension by one year with the same salary (approx. EUR 24 million). Or an extension by two years, but with a reduction in salary.

Haaland still under discussion as a replacement

If the negotiations fail, Bayern can get another high fee for Lewandowski, now 33 years old, in the summer. There is talk of around 50 million euros. The top scorer is still unimpressed by the question of the future, making goals like on an assembly line. And the Pole also reacted calmly to the speculation about a Bayern transfer from Erling Haaland.

“It’s very, very normal for me,” he said. He expects nothing else and can also “understand both sides”. Haaland can allegedly get out of his contract, which runs until 2024, early this summer at Borussia Dortmund for a fee of 75 million euros.
