After all the fuss about Robert Lewandowski, there are now positive developments at FC Bayern in another personnel issue: Serge Gnabry, whose contract expires in less than a year, is probably closer than ever to an extension with the German record champions.
At 26, Serge Gnabry is in the best footballer age. It’s no wonder that the FC Bayern offensive player is currently considering whether to extend his working papers with Munich in the near future or to reorient himself.
Although the hesitation of the national player in the last few weeks and months caused a lack of understanding among those responsible for Bayern, even a possible place in the stands was allegedly threatened if Gnabry did not finally make a decision, but in the meantime they have apparently found a closer relationship again.
According to information from the “kicker”, the threat from the stands has now been put into perspective within the club, it would have been theoretically possible anyway, but in the end it was not very practical. Instead, the talks have brought them closer together again, and the exchange “is going much better,” according to the specialist magazine.
The national player is said to be basically satisfied with the previous offer, which Gnabry has had for some time and which is said to include an annual salary of up to 19 million euros. There are only details to be clarified, for example how the German series champion plans with Gnabry in the future. But here, too, there should be approximations.
Both sides are confident that the planned extension will take place shortly. A four or five-year contract is being considered.
Chelsea theoretically remains an option for Gnabry
The rumors about an interest in Chelsea meanwhile do not seem completely out of thin air. As the “kicker” further reports, Gnabry – contrary to what was assumed in some places – can certainly imagine a move to the London club, regardless of his commitment to league and city rivals Arsenal at the time.
FC Bayern is currently in pole position with the 26-year-old.
