Since the dismissal of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, FC Bayern has been looking for a new chief squad planner. Recently, there has also been increasing speculation about a variant that primarily affects head coach Thomas Tuchel. The star coach could initially take over the transfer business himself.
Thomas Tuchel was given at least a similar responsibility during his time at Chelsea. In England, the responsible coaches of a professional team usually work as a kind of sports director for their respective club and are referred to as team managers on the island.
According to the latest “Bild” information, FC Bayern is now actually thinking about entrusting Thomas Tuchel with squad planning, at least for the upcoming season. Apparently in a double solution with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who will return to Säbener Straße and should have a post on the club’s supervisory board.
Honorary President Uli Hoeneß had already confirmed on Monday that he saw Thomas Tuchel on site in Munich for the first major part of the squad planning, who should be involved in all important personnel issues for at least eight to ten days.
In addition to being head coach at FC Bayern, Tuchel could take on his new responsibilities with long-time CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. A possible constellation that is met with enthusiasm by the Bayern legend and the German record national player Lothar Matthäus.
“I think that Tuchel and Kalle could take on the task together for a transitional period of one to two years. In addition to great football skills, Kalle has a huge international network,” the 61-year-old explained to “Bild”.
In addition to Tuchel himself, the names of Markus Krösche and Max Eberl have recently been played at FC Bayern.
FCB President Hainer initially didn’t want to be more specific on Sunday, but had praised both officials for their work at Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig: “They are both very, very good sports directors because they are in the cup final with their teams. That’s where we are also gladly been.”
