Ex-Bayern professional Robert Lewandowski received a historic dismissal in the FC Barcelona game against Osasuna. In the 31st minute, the world footballer was sent off with yellow and red.
In the 789th game of his professional career, Robert Lewandowski was also caught. The Pole was sent off after about half an hour in FC Barcelona’s league game at CA Osasuna and received the first yellow-red card of his career.
The former Bayern professional had already seen his first warning after around ten minutes. After a slight tug on Nacho Vidal, referee Jesús Gil Manzano drew the yellow card. Only about 20 minutes later, the superstar’s game ended prematurely.
In an aerial duel with David García, the referee saw the Pole hit an elbow and pulled out yellow and red. A hard, different than the first yellow but justifiable decision.
For Robert Lewandowski it was only the second dismissal since the beginning of his professional career. He received his first in the 2012/13 season while still in the BVB jersey. At that time, the striker saw red in the Bundesliga game between Dortmund and HSV (1: 4) after a foul on Per Skjelbred.
Piqué also sees red
By the way, on Tuesday the Pole wasn’t the only Barca player who had to leave the interior of the stadium prematurely. Gerard Piqué was also sent off in the last game as a Barcelona professional. The former national player argued loudly with the referee immediately after the restart and then saw the red card while sitting on the bench.
For Piqué, this was the final appearance for his longtime club. The Spaniard surprisingly announced his retirement just last week. He celebrated his tearful farewell to the Barca fans at the weekend against UD Almería.
