Bayern Munich | Revealed: Club bosses see Joshua Kimmich critically

In the first games of the season in 2023/2024, Joshua Kimmich was once again a regular at FC Bayern. Despite mostly good performances, the midfield driver should be viewed critically internally.

When coach Thomas Tuchel announced in the summer that he was missing a so-called “Holding Six” in his squad, Joshua Kimmich pricked up his ears. The 28-year-old publicly made it clear that he believed he could fill this role.

Nevertheless, FC Bayern went in search of a defensively strong clearer. With Declan Rice, however, the record champions bit their teeth, the courted Englishman preferred to switch to Arsenal.

The second top candidate was the Portuguese Joao Palhinha from FC Fulham, who was even in Munich on the deadline day before his current employer vetoed the decision due to the lack of a replacement.

One less competitor for Kimmich, who is currently in the control center next to Leon Goretzka. Internally, however, the German national player should no longer be beyond doubt.

FC Bayern: “No special treatment” for Joshua Kimmich

As “Sport Bild” revealed, Kimmich’s appearance should now be viewed critically by the decision-makers at Bayern Munich. His influence in the cabin and his style of play are also being questioned.

In line with this, Coach Tuchel’s long-time regular should be “appreciated” but not given “special treatment”. In the past this should have been different.

The right-footer has been earning his living at FC Bayern since 2015. There he was initially called up as a right-back, but later moved to midfield.

So far, Kimmich has appeared in 351 competitive games for the German industry leader (40 goals, 96 assists) and has celebrated a total of eight championships, three cup wins and one Champions League title.
