FC Bayern’s squad planners only have two weeks to sign the six required by coach Thomas Tuchel. Now two new candidates have been leaked.
Around Säbener Strasse there is currently a lively discussion as to whether FC Bayern should hire a new man for the defensive midfield by the deadline day.
Coach Tuchel is said to be missing a so-called “Holding Six” in his squad, and top dog Joshua Kimmich does not match the desired profile either.
As a result, several names have recently appeared in the rumor mill, including PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangaré and Real Madrid youngster Aurelien Tchouameni.
The “kicker” now brings two new candidates into play: Wilfred Ndidi from Premier League relegated Leicester City and Florentino from top Portuguese club Benfica. Tuchel is said to have “assessed the latter very well in the past”.
Before Chelsea change: Moisés Caicedo offered by FC Bayern
In comparison, Ndidi would be the much cheaper option for FC Bayern, after all the Nigerian will be 27 in December and only has a little more than ten months of contract in Leicester.
Florentino, on the other hand, is now tied to Benfica until 2027, with a release clause set at a whopping €120m. On Saturday he celebrates his 24th birthday.
Meanwhile, the “kicker” revealed that the Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo was also a topic in Munich – but primarily because he was offered to the German industry leader.
It is unclear whether the Munich side was ever interested in the 21-year-old. On Monday he finally switched from Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea FC for 133 million euros, Liverpool FC, who were also interested, got nothing.
It is also said that a “surprise” in the sixth position at Bayern is anything but impossible.
