For a long time this transfer summer, there was speculation that midfield star Frenkie de Jong could switch from FC Barcelona to FC Bayern. The transfer will not take place this year, but the name still haunts Säbener Straße.
According to consistent media reports, the Dutch midfielder can still imagine moving towards Bayern Munich in the future. The change of his former teammates from Ajax Amsterdam, Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch, to the German record champions are said to have made a transfer to the Bundesliga quite palatable for de Jong.
Not least because of his long contract term until 2026 at FC Barcelona, a change this year is out of the question. De Jong would be far too expensive, according to “Bild” information it should cost at least 80 million euros. In central midfield, the Bayern bosses currently see no great need for action.
There will be no farewell to the Catalans in the direction of Munich this summer. Still, the playmaker’s definitive whereabouts at Barca are not yet certain.

As “Bild” football boss Christian Falk reported in his podcast, Chelsea should also have the 25-year-old on their list. A move to the Premier League to record champions Manchester United had previously failed.
Now it is conceivable that the blues around the German team manager Thomas Tuchel could go full steam ahead at de Jong this summer.
The 44-time Netherlands international has been under contract with FC Barcelona since 2019 and has played 98 La Liga games for Barca since then.
At FC Bayern, de Jong has repeatedly been traded as a possible newcomer in recent months, but without the personal details getting really hot.
