Bayern Munich | Neppe explains the cooperation with the club bosses

Since this season, Marco Neppe has been routinely on the Bayern Munich coaching bench. Instead of Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, who took the place in the stands in exchange for Neppe. The technical director of the Munich team continues his ascent with the German record champions.

The dimension of being able to sit down on the bench next to head coach Julian Nagelsmann is “a completely different thing than in the stands”, as Neppe recently explained in an interview with the “kicker”.

Neppe exudes objectivity and calm during the previous games, and says about himself: “I come from scouting. I have a more analytical, player-related perspective.”

The 36-year-old was only promoted to technical director at FC Bayern in December last year. He has been working for the club since 2014, initially as an assistant to Michael Reschke, who also worked as technical director. Then as head of the scouting department.

Neppe is becoming increasingly important for FC Bayern

In the meantime, his work has long since ceased to consist only of player observations and transfer preparations. “The widespread belief that it’s all about signing players is deceptive,” said Neppe himself. In an interview with the specialist magazine, he summarized his job description more generally, speaking of “team and squad management”.

He is in daily contact with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and other management levels at FC Bayern. He said of working with the club bosses: “We have a very open, honest exchange, always straightforward, controversial but constructive.”

In addition to the many player observations, which will continue to be coordinated by Marco Neppe (“mentality, resilience, communication, courage and activity are included in the evaluation and must be looked at closely”), the Offenbach native was also involved in the really big personal details this summer.

Neppe is becoming more and more important in Munich’s personnel structure and is in the process of becoming one of the most important figures at the leaders of the table.
