Bayern Munich | Nagelsmann justifies transfers of millions: “We wanted to set new stimulus points”

FC Bayern has invested almost 140 million euros in newcomers this summer. However, coach Julian Nagelsmann does not believe that the record champions took a risk with their transfer policy.

“Of course, the club has invested a lot. Also necessarily because we wanted to set new points and you shouldn’t forget that in Robert Lewandowski we lost a striker who scored 50 goals in one season,” explained the 35-year-old in the Interview with the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.

The coach understands that the investments increase expectations of the defending champion. FC Bayern will open the new Bundesliga season on Friday (8:30 p.m./Sat.1 and DAZN) with the game against Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

Nagelsmann does not demand a right of veto for transfers.

“I’m convinced that the club should have the last word. Because a player’s half-life is usually longer than that of a coach,” emphasized the trainer and added: “Especially when it comes to young players. Then they can say to the club: We’ll get this player and you’ll work with him.”
