Bayern Munich | Müller apologizes after home bankruptcy against RB Leipzig

The first home defeat of the current Bundesliga season was too much for some FC Bayern fans who were used to success. Thousands of Munich supporters left the Allianz Arena before the final whistle of the game against RB Leipzig on Saturday evening (1:3). The next day, captain Thomas Müller publicly apologized for his team’s performance.

Logically, the 33-year-old himself knew that the 1: 3 defeat against RB Leipzig could have cost FC Bayern the renewed German championship. Nevertheless, Thomas Müller showed himself to be combative again the day after the home defeat via Instagram.

“It’s not the time to look back – one more week of full focus and we have a chance to win the league,” the club veteran wrote on social media.

Nevertheless, Müller apologized for his team’s performance, which meant the first defeat on Saturday evening in the 17th home game of the season.

“To be honest, I feel sorry for all Bayern fans. Our second half yesterday was shockingly bad,” said the Germany international, who played more than 90 minutes himself.

FC Bayern lost the lead against RB Leipzig

After a 1-0 lead, FC Bayern conceded three more goals against the Red Bulls, two of them from undisputed penalties.

Müller himself, who has played his entire professional career with the German record champions, will probably miss his twelfth championship in his career. He already holds the all-time record with eleven Bundesliga titles.

Finally, the 2014 world champion once again evoked the fighting spirit for the final day of the game, when FC Bayern will face 1. FC Köln on Saturday (from 3:30 p.m.).

“Let’s stick together for another week. Everything is still possible,” wrote Müller, adding the hashtags #get together and #not the time for analysis.
