Rumors about Robert Lewandowski’s future have occupied the media for months. FC Barcelona in particular has repeatedly been said to be interested in FC Bayern’s star striker. Allegedly, concrete steps have already been taken in Catalonia – but one is probably waiting in vain for a reaction from Munich.
The Spanish Portal “Diario Gol” Brings the rumor mill about Robert Lewandowski to the boil again. According to this, Barcelona’s President Joan Laporta has chosen Poland as one of the main transfer targets for the coming summer represents a challenge.
The solution: FC Bayern should forego part of the transfer fee and instead use the FC Barcelona squad.
According to the report, FC Bayern is demanding at least 60 million euros for Lewandowski, so Laporta is said to have offered the services of Sergino Dest to the Munich team. The 21-year-old right-back was stubbornly traded at Bayern before moving from Ajax Amsterdam to Barca, but decided to go to Spain.
The report leaves it open how many millions exactly the Lewandowski fee should be reduced by Dest. Barca once paid €21m for the US international who may not have increased his value.
Barca are reportedly waiting for a reaction from FC Bayern
According to “Diario Gol”, FC Bayern is aware of the offer, but “it is up in the air”. “Bayern have not announced their decision yet,” it said.
Contact with Lewandowski is said to have already been established. A first draft contract is said to have been presented to Lewandowski. The contract will run for three years and will bring the goalscorer 24 million euros a year. A salary that Bayern would probably also pay, but in Spain Lewandowski would only have to pay 24 percent in taxes. In Germany, up to 45 percent are due.
Either way, FC Bayern should have little interest in letting Lewandowski go. CEO Oliver Kahn has already confirmed that talks are “a high priority”. “There is no reason to leave FC Bayern. You have every opportunity here. Lewandowski has achieved everything with us,” explained Kahn in “ZDF sports studio“.
However, if no agreement can be reached, a sale of the superstar should definitely be considered. Lewandowski’s contract ends in 2023, then there is a risk of a free transfer. The fact that the German record champions are getting involved in a model that pushes the transfer fee can be questioned. In the event of a departure, you would probably have to invest a not inconsiderable sum in a replacement.
