Hasan Salihamidzic only ruled out a change from Robert Lewandowski next summer on Sunday. The FC Bayern sports director has now received words of praise from record national player Lothar Matthäus for his tough course.
“Respect to Hasan Salihamidzic. He made it very clear on ‘Sky90’ that FC Bayern will not give up Robert Lewandowski at the end of this season. Come what may,” wrote Matthäus in his “sky” column and added: “It’s part of this poker now and it was spot on from Hasan.”
Salihamidzic must now be measured by these words. Should Lewandowski decide to leave Munich, “then he (Salihamidzic, editor’s note) at least pushed the price up. From a manager’s point of view, Hasan reacted perfectly,” praised Matthäus.
Salihamidzic ruled out Lewandowski leaving FC Bayern in the summer on Sunday. “Lewy is held in the highest esteem there is. The fans love him, we love him at the club,” he said. The Polish striker is a “top man” and the “top earner at the club”.
So far, FC Bayern and Lewandowski have not been able to agree on a new contract. A situation that the Pole says is not easy.
