Numerous names of goalkeepers have been traded at FC Bayern in recent weeks. No wonder Munich are looking for a temporary number two who will line up behind Sven Ulreich as long as he represents Manuel Neuer. And apparently the German soccer record champion has already found a suitable keeper. His name is Daniel Peretz and he is active in Israel. Apparently there was even an offer to get the 23-year-old free.
For days it was said that FC Bayern was looking for a replacement for Manuel Neuer, who should act as number one until Neuer has fully recovered from his serious leg injury and is back in full force. After that, that person should move to the second row. But the search for such a profile was not easy, and so those responsible finally swung around.
Instead, permanent number two Sven Ulreich should act as a regular keeper at FC Bayern until Neuer is fully resilient again. Coach Thomas Tuchel and the Bayern bosses trust the veteran, who has represented Neuer several times in the past, including on the 29th Bundesliga matchday in the 2017/18 season, when he was out for a long time due to a complicated metatarsal fracture.
The problem: Because both Alexander Nübel and young hope Johannes Schenk were recently awarded to VfB Stuttgart (Nübel) and Preußen Münster (Schenk), there is currently no replacement if Ulreich suddenly has to pass injured. That’s why a backup for the short-term number one is now needed.
According to information from the Italian transfer insider Gianluca di Marzio and the German TV broadcaster “Sky”, the choice fell on Daniel Peretz. “Sky” even knows about a verbal agreement with the goalkeeper.
Peretz probably wants to switch to Bayern Munich
The Israeli is 23 years old and has played in his home country for Maccabi Tel Aviv since he was a child, but now appears to be willing to make a change. Most recently, he is said to have said goodbye to the home fans with big gestures. As “Sky” learned further, those responsible in Munich should offer Peretz a contract until 2027. The deal is in the final stages.
Di Marzio also reported on a concrete offer from the Bundesliga leader. Accordingly, Bayern have already offered 4.5 million euros for the former youth international of Israel, who has already played a game in the senior national team. According to “Sky” it is “only” 2 million euros plus possible bonus payments so far.
Peretz’s contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv runs until the summer of 2024. The Israeli is currently the hottest lead as Ulreich/Neuer backup.
The recently traded Stefan Ortega (Manchester City) and David de Gea (until recently at Manchester United, now without a club) are no longer an issue. Possibly also because the Munich newcomers expect to return “in a few weeks”, as coach Thomas Tuchel revealed on Thursday.
