Munich (dpa) – CEO Oliver Kahn from FC Bayern Munich trusts Manuel Neuer that he still has a long career ahead of him and that he will break the age limit of 40 years.
“I’m absolutely convinced of that, because I think Manuel will break all records and leave nothing for me,” said long-time former world-class goalkeeper Kahn. “He’s like Bayern Munich in terms of titles, personal awards and records. He’s very, very gluttonous and doesn’t show any signs of tiring.”
Soccer national goalkeeper Neuer (35) has been playing for FC Bayern since 2011. His current contract runs until June 30, 2023, and there has already been speculation about an imminent extension to 2025. That would also affect the calculations of Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan to AS Monaco.
Neuer is “this typical example of the player who is never satisfied,” said Kahn, “who still delivers top performance at this age.” You saw with Gianluigi Buffon how long you can play at the highest level. Italy’s goalkeeping legend is still active at the age of 43, playing in Italy’s second division side Parma Calcio. Oliver Kahn himself ended his career as a goalkeeper at Bayern at the age of 39.
