Bayern Munich | Julian Nagelsmann’s expulsion was already in the room

At the end of March, FC Bayern parted ways with coach Julian Nagelsmann, barely 24 hours after the rumors first spread through the media, and introduced Thomas Tuchel as the new coach. In terms of sport, there has not really been a positive development since then, but the actions of the Munich bosses should by far not only be based on the lack of results.

Failed in the DFB Cup at SC Freiburg, Manchester City showed the limits in the Champions League, BVB were pushed back from the top in the league, but are still far from dominant: Thomas Tuchel’s first month as FC coach Bayern has a rather sobering record, but President Herbert Hainer recently emphasized that Nagelsmann would “definitely” be exchanged for Tuchel again.

“Sport1” has now provided reasons why Nagelsmann increasingly lost support on Säbener Straße. Accordingly, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and Co. Nagelsmann have repeatedly pointed out that his behavior has opened up too many construction sites away from the actual events – more performance, less “restlessness” should have been the clear message in the direction of the 35-year-old.

Ultimately, however, one got the impression that Nagelsmann was “a bit too resistant to advice,” reports “Sport1” reporter Kerry Hau.

Bayern have been considering separation for “much longer”.

However, Hau relativizes the accusation that Nagelsmann lost the dressing room, which was blamed on the coach. He said he “didn’t lose the players, but he didn’t win them completely either.” Some stars felt “overwhelmed” by the trainer’s instructions.

Nagelsmann, on the other hand, is denounced for his dealings with the reservists. The native Bavarian was hardly interested in these. Above all, the fact that Nagelsmann’s “desired player” Ryan Gravenberch played no role at all is said to have struck the bosses. “Nagelsmann didn’t fail because of his expertise, but rather because of his leadership,” summarizes Hau.

Hau even claims to have learned that a separation from Nagelsmann had been available for “much longer”. Specifically, in mid-February after the 2-3 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach, a change in the coaching position was already being considered, he revealed. In the meantime, Salihamidzic and Co. are said to even “regret” that they didn’t act faster.

One way or another, it is clear that Tuchel now has to slowly turn things around in sporting terms. If at the end of the season not even the minimum goal of the championship jumps out, the pressure in the coming year should be enormous right from the start.

The sport.deIncidentally, users continue to believe that the decision to release Nagelsmann from his duties was not the right one. In a survey of 140,000 voters, only 36 percent see the decision positively.
