Bayern Munich | Image failures during the game: DAZN pays compensation to Italian fans

In the Bundesliga game between FC Bayern and VfL Wolfsburg, the streaming service DAZN caused a lot of trouble for many customers. The Italian Serie A was also affected by the company’s massive technical problems. In contrast to the German fans, however, the Italian supporters can look forward to compensation.

Many fans of FC Bayern and VfL Wolfsburg looked at black screens during the direct duel last Sunday. The streaming service DAZN had to deal with major technical problems and caused an involuntary blackout in the living room at home.

Although DAZN apologized during the game for the image failures and the unavailability of the site, this could not appease the users. Many demanded some kind of financial compensation and even threatened the company with canceling the subscription.

The anger was similar in Italy, where DAZN is the main rights holder for Serie A. The broadcast of the Italian league was also severely disrupted last weekend. But while it was an apology for the German viewers, the Serie A fans can look forward to financial compensation afterwards.

DAZN promises: Problems fixed

In a conversation with Italian Secretary of State for Sport Valentina Vezzali, DAZN agreed to pay Italian fans back half of the monthly price paid. Depending on the subscription model, fans will receive up to 20 euros back. The refund is also automated, so fans do not have to fill out and submit an extra application.

At the same time, DAZN declared that it had finally resolved the technical problems, which the company described as “unpredictable” and “extraordinary”. “DAZN has assured us that it will not happen again. We as a league will keep an eye on it,” said Serie A boss Lorenzo Casini.
