Bayern need a new coach again from summer. Former coach Hansi Flick was also recently traded. But he could have other plans.
Speculation abounds about who might succeed him. Hansi Flick should also be an option. But the ex-coach, recently in office as national coach, is also said to be in discussion at FC Barcelona, who are looking for a successor to coach Xavi Hernández.
Flick is said to be interested in an adventure in Spain
As the “Abendzeitung” reports, Flick is more inclined to wait for an offer from Spain than to return to Bayern in June. Accordingly, the 58-year-old is aiming for a long-term project; an adventure in Spain should appeal to him.
Flick has changed his agent in the last few weeks and is now represented by Pini Zahavi. The advisor who Uli Hoeneß described as a “greedy piranha” in the transfer poker surrounding the then Bayern player David Alaba. Zahavi also had a hand in Robert Lewandowski’s departure from Munich to Barcelona and is said to have called Hoeneß personally.
If Flick doesn’t move back to Munich, but to Barcelona or another club, there would be a number of other coaching alternatives on the market. In addition to Jürgen Klopp, who is leaving Liverpool and has already announced through his agent, that he is not availableJosé Mourinho, the aforementioned Xavi Hernández and Julian Nagelsmann are also without a contract at a club from the summer.
However, as in the Flick case, it is doubtful whether the current national coach will be willing to return to the record champions after his dismissal from Bayern a good year ago. It seems more likely that the Munich team will do everything they can to lure Xabi Alonso from potential champions Bayer Leverkusen back to the Isar.
It would be a classic Bayern move. One that competition from the West would massively weaken.
