Bayern Munich | Harsh criticism of Serge Gnabry: “He seems a bit full”

Former Bundesliga professional Maik Franz is critical of the current performance of national player Serge Gnabry from FC Bayern.

“You have a bit of the feeling that he seems a bit full. You don’t really feel this last fire, the last willingness,” said Franz to “Sport1”.

After his contract was extended until 2026 in July, Gnabry has “not really got going” so far, according to the former defender.

Perhaps the 27-year-old is still somewhat handicapped because of his wrist injury, Franz suspected, “because he walks around with the bandage all the time”.

Seven goals for FC Bayern

Gnabry was already involved in seven goals in eleven competitive games for FC Bayern 2022/2023. The native of Stuttgart disappointed, especially during the four-game winless streak of Munich in the Bundesliga.

In the past international phase in the DFB jersey, Gnabry presented himself far from his best form.

Basically, the former Bremen native brings “the qualities to convince at the highest level,” said Franz. However, the ex-professional emphasized: “It’s a World Cup year. He has to deliver slowly.”

Bayern worried about Serge Gnabry?

However, according to Franz, Gnabry is not a leading player anyway. “He’s a great team player. When things are going well, he’s there too. But for me, a leading player is different.”

The 41-year-old sees his Munich teammate Leroy Sané as a possible positive example for Gnabry. “Everyone was puzzled,” said Franz. “All of a sudden he sprinted and scored one goal after the other.”

Gnabry’s low form is said to be causing headaches for those responsible at FC Bayern. There was concern and sometimes helplessness because of his performance fluctuations, reported “Sport1”.
