Bayern Munich | Hamann attacks Nagelsmann: “Gave PSG food for no reason”

At FC Bayern there is a lot of unrest a few days before the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain. In an interview, ex-national player Dietmar Hamann has now given his assessment of the numerous topics of discussion surrounding the record champion – and criticized coach Julian Nagelsmann for a statement.

Although FC Bayern, for once, does not have to deal with an English week, there is a lot of commotion at the German industry leader.

The main reason for this was Manuel Neuer’s frustration interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, but coach Julian Nagelsmann also made the headlines with a verbal tip towards Paris.

Dietmar Hamann could not understand the statements of the 35-year-old, who had indirectly accused PSG of fibbing when superstar Kylian Mbappé was down.

This “shouldn’t have been there,” Hamann explained in an interview with Munich’s “Abendzeitung”: “It was another little slip-up on his part. Nagelsmann gave PSG food for no reason.”

The Paris coach Christophe Galtier had sharply rejected the allegation last weekend.

Hamann sure: Neuer will soon no longer be Bayern captain

In the meantime, Hamann does not expect the veteran to return as Bayern captain in the Manuel Neuer case.

“I can hardly imagine that. I’m also not sure if he’ll come back and reach his old level. If Yann Sommer isn’t guilty of anything in the second half of the season, he’ll start the new season as number one,” predicted the former international.

Neuer must “first get healthy and fit again. Only if he is then better than Sommer does he still have a chance of getting his old position back,” emphasized Hamann.

The 36-year-old will be out for months due to a broken lower leg, and Bayern brought in Yann Sommer from Mönchengladbach as a replacement.

Most recently, in a newspaper interview, Neuer had sharply criticized the separation of FC Bayern from goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, causing a huge stir.

Nübel return to Bayern? Hamann skeptical

Regardless of the anger about Neuer, Hamann does not expect goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, who is on loan to AS Monaco until the end of the season, to return to Bayern.

“I can’t imagine that Nübel will wear the Bayern jersey again. Too much has happened for that. Even if Bayern told him that he would be on an equal footing with the other goalkeepers Sommer and possibly Neuer from the summer, Nübel would probably won’t do that. He wants the guarantee of being number one,” said Hamann.
