Raphael Guerreiro has turned his back on BVB after seven years to celebrate success at Bayern Munich. At first, however, the Portuguese is doomed to watch as another injury slows the left-back down. A circumstance that is difficult for the 29-year-old to understand.
Raphael Guerreiro is, once again, slowed down by injury. Even in the Borussia Dortmund jersey, the technician had repeatedly been thrown back for health reasons.
After a few days at his new employer FC Bayern, Guerreiro has now met the same fate again. During training on Saturday, he tore a muscle bundle in his right calf. Although the German record champions did not provide any information on the downtime, according to “tz” Guerreiro may be missing for around six weeks.
The newcomer would not only miss the Supercup duel against RB Leipzig, but also the first three Bundesliga games for Munich. It is clear that Guerreiro will not travel to Asia with his new team-mates, where marketing meetings, training sessions and friendly matches are scheduled from July 24th to August 3rd.
Guerreiro on crutches: “I’m not feeling well”
At the official team presentation on Sunday, Raphael Guerreiro even appeared on crutches in the Allianz Arena. His brief statement gave an idea of how much the new setback was affecting him: “I’m not feeling well. It’s very, very hard,” quoted “Bild” the ex-Dortmunder when he left the arena.
Guerreiro was originally supposed to stimulate competition at left-back. The Portuguese is also considered a dream player by head coach Thomas Tuchel, under whom he had already played in BVB times.
Now it is up to FC Bayern once again to Alphonso Davies. The Canadian has already played 153 competitive games for FC Bayern, in which he has 33 points.
