At class leaders FC Barcelona, coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team impressively won the second quarter-final game on Thursday with 90:75 (48:35). The Munich team equalized 1-1 in the “best of five” series.
Deshaun Thomas was the dominating man with 25 points and six from seven converted hat-tricks as Bayern went about their game aggressively, forcing Barcelona to make mistakes in the first half. In the fourth quarter, the Catalans threatened to come back. But when Bayern’s Nick Weiler-Babb put the three points back up to 15 points three minutes before the end, everything was clear.
Game three in the duel between the first and eighth of the main round will take place next Wednesday (8:30 p.m. / MagentaSport) in Munich. The winner of the series advances to the Final Four in Belgrade (May 19-21). For Bayern it would be the first time.
