There has been conflicting information in recent days about FC Bayern’s alleged interest in center forward Sasa Kalajdzic from Bundesliga competitor VfB Stuttgart. While it was said on the one hand that the VfB clipper was actually still a seriously discussed option for the record champions, other sources spoke of exactly the opposite.
Like the Munich “Evening News” recently reported, the 2.00 m giant should no longer play a role in FC Bayern’s thoughts. Not even if superstar Robert Lewandowski were to leave the club this summer and a position would become vacant in the center forward position.
In any case, Kalajdzic was only discussed at Bayern as a Lewandowski backup on Säbener Straße, not as his successor in the event that the two-time world footballer left.
But according to the newspaper report, this decision has long since been made internally that Kalajdzic should not be transferred to Bayern Munich. Not as a first choice, nor as a second or third alternative.
Kalajdzic’s future at VfB Stuttgart is more than open
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has held the post of striker backup for the Munich team for two years. The 33-year-old has played 42 times in the Bundesliga for the German industry leader and scored seven goals.
The sporting future of the Austrian national player Kalajdzic is still not clear. Born in Vienna, he still has an ongoing working paper with the Swabians until 2023. However, it currently seems unlikely that the center forward will actually go into his last year of contract with the relegated team.
On the one hand, the 24-year-old is only too happy to finally prove his skills on the European stage. On the other hand, VfB Stuttgart is eyeing a million-dollar transfer fee if VfB’s top scorer of the last two Bundesliga years is sold.
