Officially, Yann Sommer is still an employee of FC Bayern. However, that can change in the near future, a change from the Swiss has been in the air for days. However, the goalkeeper’s transfer could be more complicated than expected.
Just a few weeks ago, it seemed as if buying Yann Sommer would be quite simple for an interested club. The “Bild” reported on an exit clause in the goalkeeper’s contract, which would make a change possible without the consent of Munich. But “Sky” now claims that the said clause does not exist.
According to information from the TV station, there is only a “gentleman’s agreement” between FC Bayern and the Swiss goalkeeper. According to this, Sommer can leave the record champions as soon as Manuel Neuer returns between the posts.
If this description is correct, it would fundamentally change the situation in Munich, because now they would again have the opportunity to veto their change and keep Sommer in the club – for example if Manuel Neuer’s recovery process is further delayed and the national goalkeeper even further fails.
Inter tries Bayern with a mini offer
If there is an exit clause, however, FC Bayern could not prevent a summer transfer as soon as a club calls for the specified sum.
Recently there has been increasing speculation that Inter Milan could be ready to do so. The Nerazzurri are said to be very interested in the Swiss national goalkeeper. They should already have an offer in the drawer. However, whether there is a clause or not, this should be well below the expectations of Munich, who are hoping for a transfer fee of nine to ten million euros.
It is still completely unclear how the situation around Manuel Neuer will develop. The regular keeper assured on Monday that he was fine. But he could still miss the start of training.
