Bayern Munich | Christensen move to Barca ‘almost perfect’

FC Bayern’s search for a central defender is and remains complicated – and could soon become even more complicated. Preferred candidate Andreas Christensen is said to be about to reach an agreement with FC Barcelona. Juves Matthijs de Ligt could then become an issue again for the record champions. The Dutchman would be expensive, but is apparently coming onto the market.

According to Italian media, those in charge of Juventus have decided to part ways with Matthijs de Ligt in the summer. According to “calciomercato”, the search for a successor for the Dutchman is already in full swing. This could also open a door for FC Bayern.

So far it has been said that the Oranje star is not an issue in Munich, but the record champions seem to be running out of options. At least the hoped-for commitment of the Dane Andreas Christensen has apparently moved a long way off.

Christensen on Barca ‘almost perfect’?

Cesc Fabregas, Christensen’s former teammate at Chelsea, revealed in a Twitch interview with journalist Gerard Romero that the Dane is about to sign with FC Barcelona. “They say it’s almost perfect,” said the Spaniard of a potential Christensen move to Barca.

This assessment coincides with reports from Spain, according to which Christensen is already in talks with Barca officials. Should the Dane agree to the Catalans, FC Bayern would have to resort to a plan B, which allegedly does not yet exist.

Does FC Bayern want to afford de Ligt?

Matthijs de Ligt could be the solution in the end. There is no question that the Dutchman meets the sporting requirements. However, his commitment should break the budget. At Juve, the defender currently collects around twelve million euros a year. That should be too much for the people of Munich. Antonio Rüdiger is also said to demand a salary of a similar magnitude and is therefore too expensive for the Bayern bosses.

In the case of de Ligt, the fact that the 22-year-old is still under contract with the old lady until 2024 makes it even more difficult, so a transfer fee is also due. Even if the Dutchman were satisfied with a lower salary, the overall package could end up being far too expensive for the record champions.
