Bayern Munich | BVB: Bellingham played this role in the Musiala transfer

Marco Neppe, now Technical Director, was primarily responsible for Jamal Musiala’s transfer to Bayern Munich. In an interview, the transfer guru now revealed details of the deal and hinted that BVB star Jude Bellingham also played a role.

“My first live sighting was in 2018 at an annual tournament in Paris. It was a country tournament and Jamal was playing for the England U16 national team at the time,” Neppe recalled at “sky” return.

Musiala’s strong performances were immediately remembered back then. “I can hardly remember any results, but I can remember two players very clearly: Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala, who played together for the English team. It was spectacular,” enthused the technical director.

Back then, Musiala already showed the skills that he regularly shows today in the jersey of FC Bayern and the German national team.

“He impressed with his incredible feeling for the ball, with his ball skills and his movements. With those spidery dribbles,” said Neppe, who added: “Jamal has an incredible, extraordinary ability for this modern football, to adapt in these tight spaces under time pressure, to make the right decision. The mixture of his mindset and his ability to assess the business, to focus on the sport and to keep it, is promising.”

Musiala and FC Bayern: “Perfect match”

FC Bayern quickly decided to guide the offensive player to Säbener Straße – with success. In 2019, the youthful talent moved from Chelsea to Munich.

“For all of us, Jamal Musiala is a prime example of what it’s like when a 16-year-old joins Bayern Munich so early and then follows this path,” stressed Neppe and made it clear: “He will continue to follow this path with us . I’m looking forward to the future. It’s a perfect match.”
