Bayern keeper before farewell: club duel for Alexander Nübel

Alexander Nübel is about to jump at FC Bayern. Now two European teams are probably fighting for the keeper.

Where will Alexander Nübel play next season? The goalkeeper, who played for AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 for the past two years, no longer plays a role in FC Bayern’s plans.

With the planned return of the permanently injured Manuel Neuer (37), the regular keeper question has been clarified for the time being. Nübel does not want to be satisfied with the substitute bench and is exploring the options for the coming season.

Probably a club duel for Nübel

The “Abendzeitung” from Munich is now reporting that the keeper is in final negotiations with a European club. It could be completed in the coming days. The newspaper did not give any further details.

According to its own research, the “Fussballtransfers.com” portal has learned that a second club is still in the running for the 26-year-old. So it boils down to a duel for the services of the goalkeeper – with an open outcome.

Nübel consultant is looking for a new club

Bayern loaned Nübel to the Cote d’Azur in 2021. In Monaco, the young keeper was supposed to gain experience and match practice and was used as a first-choice goalkeeper in 97 games.

At the end of June, Nübel’s advisor declared that his protégé would not return to FCB after his loan ended. “We’ve always said that it doesn’t make sense for Alex to come back to Bayern while Manuel Neuer is still there. He’s fit again now,” he told “t-online”: “That’s why I’m looking for a new club for Alex – one that will take him as far as possible.”

Nübel’s contract with Bayern runs until 2025, so a transfer fee is due for the ex-Schalke player. New replacement Yann Sommer is also looking for a new employer. Most recently, Inter Milan and VfB Stuttgart were under discussion as possible buyers.
