Mainz annoy Frankfurt before the EL final
Eintracht Frankfurt survived the final endurance test before the Europa League final against Glasgow Rangers. The Hessians came to a 2-2 (2-1) win at FSV Mainz 05 at the end of the Bundesliga season on Saturday. In the Rhein-Main derby in front of 33,000 spectators, Marcus Ingvartsen (10th/49th minute) scored for the home side double. Tuta (25th) and Rafael Borré (35th) scored the goals for Frankfurt.
Gladbach overruns Hoffenheim
At the end of a disappointing season, Borussia Mönchengladbach shot the frustration out of their souls. The Rhinelanders won 5-1 (3-1) against TSG Hoffenheim on the last matchday.
On Saturday, coach Adi Hütter saw a sportingly meaningless victory. Lars Stindl (26′), Alassane Plea (44′, penalty kick), Jonas Hofmann (45’+1/68′) and Breel Embolo (53′) turned the game around for Gladbach. Previously, Andrej Kramaric (3rd) had scored early for Hoffenheim.
Borussia, who started with European Cup ambitions, ended the season in tenth place, just behind Hoffenheim. Both teams will not play internationally in the coming season.
Augsburg with a narrow win against relegated Fürth
FCA, who had last week secured themselves the league for the eleventh year in a row, took the lead in a chaotic game through Daniel Caligiuri (11th). He converted a penalty kick. Jessic Ngankam (24th) equalized. Michael Gregoritsch (84th) made it 2-1. The relegated team remained without a win twelve times.
Fürth had to do without coach Stefan Leitl because of a corona infection. Assistant coach Andre Mijatovic was responsible for him for the first time.
