Bayer shares on the upswing after the trading day: Crop Science division could be spun off

A media report about a possible spin-off of the Crop Science division by the Bayer group boosted the share price in after-hours trading on Friday.

Via Tradegate, Bayer shares rose by 2.26 percent to EUR 49.91 in after-hours trading on Friday.

According to “Platow Börse”, Bayer boss Bill Anderson is working on plans to spin off the agrochemicals division in order to take it public, based on the model of Siemens Energy. Market participants have repeatedly speculated about this option in the past. However, skeptics counter that there are still risks associated with the weed killer glyphosate that stand in the way of a so-called spin-off.
