Bayer may sell his prostate cancer medication Nubeqa in the European Union to treat another patient group.
The European Commission approved NubeQA in combination with hormone therapy (ADT) to treat patients with metastatic hormonal-sensitive prostate cancer (MHSPC), the pharmaceutical and agrarchemy group said on Monday.
Nubenqa Plus ADT is now also approved in the EU for the treatment of adults with MHSPC in combination with and without chemotherapy. This is already the case in the USA as a further very important market.
Nubeqa is one of the still quite new medication with which Bayer wants to at least compensate for revenue with the billion-cash box hit Xarelto in perspective. Business with the blood coagulation inhibitor is under great pressure because of the expiry of patents.
In 2024, they fell by 15 percent to just under 3.5 billion euros. The Nubeqa turnover, on the other hand, rose by 75 percent over the same period to just over 1.5 billion euros.
Bayer share cannot benefit from Xetra trading and temporarily falls 0.29 percent to 27.59 euros.
