Paris/London/Zurich (dpa -AfX) – Europe’s most important stock markets have started little changed in the new stock exchange week. The EuroStoxx 50 closed 0.30 percent lower at 5,342.98 points on Monday. Outside the euro area, the Swiss leading index SMI gave up 0.38 percent to 11,936.89 points. The British FTSE 100 rose 0.23 percent to 9,012.99 points.
Overall, there was further restraint on the market with a view to the trade talks between the USA and the European Union (EU). In an interview, US Minister of Trade Howard Lutnick had confident that the United States could achieve an agreement with the EU. However, the 1st August is also a final period with a view to the threatened higher tariffs if there is no agreement until then./EDH/he
