Missed in Porto for the first time
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have to do without Sardar Azmoun (27) for the time being. As the club announced on Thursday, the attacker suffered a torn muscle in his right calf while warming up before the 2-0 defeat at FC Porto in the Champions League. It is said that Azmoun is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.
It is not unthinkable that he will be out of action until the World Cup break that starts next month. The 65-time Iran international will face England, USA and Wales in Group B at the World Cup in Qatar. Iran will start the tournament against the “Three Lions” on November 21st. Before the loss in Porto, Azmoun mostly played as a joker in all eleven competitive games for Leverkusen and had contributed two assists. The “Werkself”, currently penultimate in the table, will face newly promoted FC Schalke 04 on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) with new coach Xabi Alonso.
