Bayer Leverkusen promotes Eichin to “Director Licensing”

Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has promoted Thomas Eichin to “director license”.

The 56-year-old will be responsible for “all internal processes in the professional area” in the newly created position, the club announced on Monday. These include both the men’s team and the Bundesliga women.

Eichin was previously Head of Youth and Women in Leverkusen; he will take up his new post on July 1st. There, the former professional, who has been with Bayer Cross since 2020, will continue to report to Sporting Director Simon Rolfes.

“With my experience from 25 years in professional sport, I would like to make my contribution to making the club even more professional and successful in the future,” said Eichin. Rolfes said his experience, commitment and leadership skills spoke for the ex-professional.

After his playing days, Eichin was initially at home in ice hockey and, among other things, managed the business of the Kölner Haie. From February 2013 to May 2016, the 180-times Bundesliga player worked as sporting director for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, followed by a five-month interlude at 1860 Munich.
