Bayer striker has been missing since March
Bayer Leverkusen will most likely play the remaining games of this season without striker Patrik Schick (27). The Czech has been plagued by adductor problems since mid-March, which have put him out of action for several months over the course of the season. Managing Director Simon Rolfes has now spoken with little confidence about Schick’s return in the near future: “This season it will be tight for him to play again,” said the 41-year-old from “table footballquoted. Schick was last used for a minute in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 against Ferencváros (2-0). .
“He’s already made progress, but didn’t make the breakthrough,” said Rolfes. Schick is in the process of “finding and going through the next therapy step”. Coach Xabi Alonso had already emphasized on Friday that the attacker would go a “different way” as part of his recovery – according to the “kicker” Schick is being treated in his home country and will return to Leverkusen at the end of this week after 14 days of therapy. It is said that he is not sure whether he will then go straight into team training. According to Rolfes, at least one operation is “not an issue at the moment”. Alonso said: “It’s not easy for us. It’s not easy for him. We have to keep waiting.”
To date, Schick has played 23 games in all competitions, scoring four goals and one assist. In the Bundesliga’s most recent market value update, he was again one of the losers when he was devalued for the second time in a row – to currently 30 million euros, which is beaten by three players within the team. Schick scored 24 goals in the last Bundesliga season and finished second in the goalscoring list.
