Lost regular place at Bayer
Piero Hincapié lost his regular place at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga after a red card suspension at the start of the season; the 21-year-old has only been allowed to start from the start in the cup competitions. The situation is also playing into the hands of other clubs; interest in the Ecuadorian central defender is flaring up again – apparently also because of an exit clause.
Like the broadcaster “DSports“ reports, in addition to the Premier League clubs Liverpool FC and Newcastle United, who are said to have shown interest last summer, the Serie A duo AS Roma and AC Milan Hincapié are also back in focus. The two Italian clubs were linked to the left-footer in the summer of 2022, but he remained in Leverkusen and extended until 2027 the following February.
Initially it was said that Hincapié’s new working paper had no exit clause. The “Kicker” but shortly afterwards speculated that this might not be the truth, as sports director Simon Rolfes asked a corresponding question at “Picture TV” only answered with a delay and then added: “Most of the time it is better without an exit clause, sometimes it is not a bad thing at all. The amount is crucial.” According to the report from “DSports”, the clause is 70 million euros, twice Hincapié’s current market value.
Diaby new: Bayer Leverkusen’s most expensive sales
Since the €6.35 million move from Argentine club CA Talleres in the summer of 2021, the 30-time national player has played 90 games (three goals) for the “Werkself”. The fact that top clubs like Liverpool are monitoring Hincapié’s situation was recently confirmed by his agent Manuel Sierra on the show “Fútbol sin Cassette”: “In January we will talk to them like we do to other clubs. It will be a transfer fee of no less than 50 million euros.” The most expensive defensive departure that Bayer has ever recorded in its history since 2018/19 is Benjamin Henrichs (26) with his 20 million euro move to AS Monaco.
