Internal price tag denied
Coach Gerardo Seoane firmly assumes that offensive star Moussa Diaby (22) will stay with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. “We know that things can happen in football that we cannot control. But I’m convinced that Moussa will stay with us,” said the Swiss after the first team training before the new season on Monday.
“Moussa is very happy here. He knows what he has at the club and gets the right appreciation from all of us,” said Seoane: “So I’m not worried that there’s something we don’t know about.” Top clubs to be watched. Sports director Simon Rolfes denied reports that Bayer had set a price tag of 100 million euros communicated to the players. He told the “Kicker”: “There was never this reference to the consultant. Because we don’t want to give Moussa away. That’s why we haven’t fixed a sum internally.” According to Rolfes, Leverkusen have also not received any offers for the winger.

Rolfes initially took the same line as Seoane with his assessment of Diaby. “I am very optimistic that he will stay. He feels totally comfortable here and has made a huge leap again, especially in terms of scoring. He has even more potential. We want to develop this further here. He knows what he has at Bayer 04. With games in the Champions League, also with a view to the World Cup.”

But Rolfes also had to admit when asked about PSG’s possible return thoughts: “There are a few clubs in Europe: If they really want a player, it will be tight. PSG is one of them. Who would have thought Mbappé would stay in Paris? And suddenly he extended there. The possibilities for the six top clubs in Europe are in other financial dimensions.”
Aránguiz leaving or staying at Bayer? Seoane on Weiser’s situation
In the case of Chilean Charles Aránguiz (33), who is willing to emigrate, and whose transfer Rolfes did not categorically rule out, coach Seoane also expects to stay. Mitchell Weiser (28), who was last loaned to Werder Bremen and who surprisingly trained on Monday, will probably still go. “It is in the interest of the player to be able to continue playing,” Seoane said: “The next two or three weeks will show where his path is headed.” Weiser himself commented (quoted via “picture“): “Negotiations are currently underway between Werder and Bayer, it is now up to Leverkusen. Hopefully we’ll know more in a few days.” Ex-national player Nadiem Amiri (25), who was there for individual training after the end of the loan in Genoa, could and should still go.
Meanwhile, the start took place without any new signings, as the only newcomer, Czech attacking talent Adam Hlozek (19), is still on vacation due to his international appearances. His compatriot, top scorer Patrik Schick (26), was also missing during the summer break after a minor groin surgery, but is expected to join the team these days. Meanwhile, season-ending injured Jeremie Frimpong (21), Timothy Fosu-Mensah (24), Karim Bellarabi (32) and Kerem Demirbay (28) were all there for the opener. According to Seoane, Amine Adli (22) should start team training in two to three weeks.
