Mitchell Weiser is very money related, in my opinion.
He will not have earned badly in Berlin, nor in Munich.
If Leverkusen isn’t willing to pay this severance payment, he’ll just sit in the stands and ask if that’s a goal for footballers? Not in my opinion.
Forego the 3 million and it’s good, you can play and soon change clubs again when more money beckons.
The aim of professional soccer players is to earn money. Sure most want to win titles and actually play, but when a player has a contract that makes him more money in one year than 3 years at another club, then that’s really not “money related,” it’s just economically correct.
From the point of view of Leverkusen it still makes no sense not to terminate the contract for a payment of 1-1.5 million. Given the regular salary, that would certainly be a fair demand.
To accuse the player of greed, but then to say that he should “forgo 3 million” so that he can play elsewhere at another club where he is guaranteed not to be paid that much, that’s quite cynical.
For us, the non-assignment of a back number would be a reason to go to the labor court, since the club obviously wants to force a change / termination of the contract by bullying the player – constructive dismissal
I haven’t thought of that at all. If the transfer window is closed, then as a wise man I would seriously consider putting the club under pressure with such a lawsuit at the latest during the winter break. That is of course the hint with the fence post from Leverkusen. I find it quite problematic not to assign at least one number to the player–“unprofessional” is definitely appropriate.
On the other hand, if he sues Leverkusen, he won’t stand out among potential clubs next season. It quickly happens that the player is labeled as “difficult”. Judging by the comments here, this has almost happened already.
