Bayer and VfB continue to win, Union also loses in Heidenheim, Wolfsburg beats SGE

Double from Undav

Even without a goal from striker Victor Boniface, Bayer Leverkusen set a club record and underlined their ambitions in the Bundesliga. An own goal from Sepp van den Berg (18th minute), a free kick from Alejandro Grimaldo (59th minute) and a goal from Jonas Hofmann (65th minute) helped the Werkself win 3-0 (1-0) at FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday .) to make the best start to the season in the club’s history perfect. Bayer have never had 16 points after six matchdays.

At the bottom of the table, the hapless Mainz team are still waiting for the first three points. They have been winless in eleven league games across the season.

Guirassy series breaks at former club Cologne – VfB wins thanks to Undav

Serhou Guirassy’s impressive goal streak came to an end in the game against former club 1. FC Köln, but his VfB Stuttgart remains on course for success. Although the striker, who equaled Robert Lewandowski’s record with ten goals in the first five Bundesliga games, remained goalless for the first time on matchday 6, the Swabians celebrated by winning 2-0 (0-0) at 1. FC Köln fifth victory.

This time, both goals were scored by newcomer Deniz Undav (68th/88th). It was the first goals in a VfB jersey for the offensive player on loan from Brighton, who was injured at the start of the season. FC, on the other hand, goes into the derbies in Leverkusen and against Mönchengladbach, which are extremely important not only for the atmosphere, with a single point. If these are also lost, there is a risk of an extremely turbulent international break.

First defeat of the season: Frankfurt too harmless in Wolfsburg

Eintracht Frankfurt’s series of draws is broken – just not in the way the Hessians had imagined. After four draws in a row, Eintracht lost 0-2 (0-1) at VfL Wolfsburg and suffered their first defeat of the new Bundesliga season in the sixth game. Frankfurt’s world champion Mario Götze also saw a yellow-red card in the 58th minute (58th). Both Wolfsburg goals were scored again by Jonas Wind (31st/84th) in front of 28,323 spectators.

That’s another reason why this game was a plea for the classic center forward. Because on the one hand, wind is already reaching goals six and seven of the season. When the score was 1-0, the 24-year-old Dane was in exactly the right place in the penalty area when Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was unable to hold on to a shot from Lovro Majer, but was only able to deflect it to the side. In the 2-0 win, he also scored with a shot after Trapp had initially saved a penalty from him.

Beste’s dream goal ensures Union’s fifth defeat in a row

1. FC Union Berlin has suffered its fifth competitive defeat in a row and is in a sporting slump right before the next Champions League test. Coach Urs Fischer’s team lost 0-1 (0-0) at 1. FC Heidenheim thanks to a dream goal from Jan-Niklas Beste and therefore remained without a point for the entire month of September. The best free kick taken outstandingly (59th minute) decided a game at eye level in front of 15,000 spectators, in which Union, as in previous weeks, lacked penetration.

On Tuesday (6.45 p.m.) in the premier class against Sporting Braga and next Saturday (3.30 p.m.) in the league against Borussia Dortmund, the Köpenickers are already under increased pressure to succeed before the international break. Heidenheim, on the other hand, secured their second home win and moved past Union in the table. With seven points, the promoted team has now noticeably distanced itself from some of the more highly ranked teams.

Neuhaus and Plea lead Gladbach to their first victory in Bochum

First win for new coach Gerardo Seoane, next defeat for VfL Bochum. Borussia Mönchengladbach stopped the negative run in the duel between teams without a win with a 3-1 (3-0) win at VfL Bochum and achieved the first three points under the new head coach. The Bochum team, on the other hand, suffered their next painful defeat a week after the 7-0 debacle at FC Bayern Munich and are still waiting for their first win after six games. In front of 26,000 spectators in Bochum’s Ruhr Stadium, Florian Neuhaus (27th) and Alassane Plea (37th and 45th + 3) scored the goals for Gladbach. Anthony Losilla scored for the hosts (68th).

The start of the 69th West derby in the Bundesliga was initially delayed by ten minutes because fence flags in the away area covered the security gates and had to be rehung. The visiting fans were informed that the game would only be kicked off afterwards by referee Felix Brych. The Borussia supporters also caused another short delay in the first half due to pyrotechnics burning out.
