At Bayer 04 since 2018
Bayer Leverkusen and Fernando Carro rely on a long-term cooperation. The 57-year-old’s contract as CEO was extended until 2027. The club announced this on Monday after the social committee of Bayer 04 had previously made the decision. Carro has headed the board of directors since July 1, 2018. His previous contract expired on June 30, 2024.
Carro has represented the interests of Bayer 04 internationally as a board member of the European club association ECA since 2021 and has always emphasized in the past the need for a football club to present itself as professionally as possible. “I like the emotional and dynamic environment of football, as well as the professional framework that Bayer 04 offers. Together we have already been able to get a lot off the ground. Now it is important to use the good basis optimally and to continue to improve,” said the chairman, who announced that he would pursue “ambitious goals” in all areas of the organization. “We want to be a modern, innovative and, above all, successful club.”
Since taking office four years ago, the factory club has qualified for a European competition every season. Together with the outgoing sports director Rudi Völler and his successor Simon Rolfes, Carro recently accompanied the transfer of responsibilities in the sports sector.
The Shareholders’ Committee #Bayer04 has prematurely extended the contract with Managing Director Fernando Carro until June 30, 2027.
