Not planned as a Schick replacement
Adam Hlozek has been on the list of several top European clubs for some time, and there were first rumors of Borussia Dortmund’s interest in 2019. The 19-year-old offensive player from Sparta Prague is by far the most valuable player in the Czech Fortuna Liga with a market value of 19 million euros. Now a transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen seems imminent.

“Sport1” announced on Wednesday morning that the Bundesliga side had reached a deal with Prague that would bring Hlozek to the “Werkself” for around EUR 22m. In Leverkusen, the right-footed player, who made his debut for Sparta at the age of 16, will receive a contract until 2027.

Hlozek is not a Schick replacement at Bayer 04 – Alario should go
In general, the risk that the deal will collapse on the home straight is manageable. Hlozek should take the place of Lucas Alario (29) at Bayer 04, who was only the third choice behind Patrik Schick (26) and new winter signing Sardar Azmoun (27) in the second half of the season. A departure from Schick should not become more likely even if his compatriot is committed – especially since Hlozek can also act as an attacking midfielder, where Florian Wirtz (19) will miss large parts of the first half of the season due to his cruciate ligament rupture.
