Meritxell Batet will not continue in the Congress of Deputies. The former president of the lower house has already resigned from continuing in that position during the new legislature, making way for Francina Armengol, who was elected in mid-August thanks to a PSOE pact with Sumar, ERC, Junts, EH Bildu, the PNV and the BNG as the one that the socialists are now seeking to support the re-election of Pedro Sanchez. This Wednesday, the leader of the PSC has announced that she will not continue in her seat either.
Batet herself has communicated this through a series of tweets. “With these lines I want to communicate that I am leaving the front line of politics and that I have renounced my act of deputy. Sources close to Batet indicate that he had the decision “very thoughtful & rdquor; for a long time. Shortly after the general elections on July 23, the also former Minister of Territorial Policy informed the acting president that I didn’t want to continue in front of Congress.
