Bastianini operated, will miss three races

The Ducati rider underwent successful surgery on his injured ankle and hand in Catalonia: a regular course, but he will not be able to race in the San Marino, India and Japanese GPs. Possible return to Indonesia on 15 October

Successful double surgery. Enea Bastianini underwent surgery this evening on his left ankle and left hand fractured in yesterday’s accident at the start of the MotoGP Catalunya GP at the Montmelò circuit. The two surgeries, performed by Professors Catani and Tarallo at the Modena Polyclinic, ended successfully and Enea will soon be able to begin post-operative recovery.

The Ducati rider, who due to an error in braking triggered a carom that also involved Johann Zarco, Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi and in which he successfully sustained fractures, will however have to rest and absence from competitions. Bastianini will certainly miss the GP of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera at Misano, scheduled for next weekend, but also the trips to India (September 24) and Japan (October 1). The objective of the return therefore moves at least to the GP of Indonesia on 15 October.
