Basketball. Varese, the Federal Court of Appeal returns 5 points: it is now -11

The penalty of Varese in Serie A drops from 16 to 11 points: the Federal Court of Appeal of the Fip thus partially accepted the decision of the Federal Court which, following the referral of the Prosecutor for acts of sporting fraud and sporting offence, applied on 13 April last, the club received the penalty of 16 points in the standings to be discounted in the current sporting year for not having complied with the payment of all obligations towards registered members, contrary to what was produced during admission to the 2022 Serie A championship- 2023.

“The Federal Court of Appeal, given the art. 116, paragraph 7, RG, in partial acceptance of the complaint proposed by the soc. Openjobmetis Pall. Varese imposes on it the sanction of 11 penalty points in the standings to be served in the current football season. Having regard to article 116, paragraph 8, of the RG, given the complexity of the issues subject to the complaint, it sets the deadline for filing the motivation at ten days”, reads the federal press release. Varese thus finds itself with 21 points in the standings, leaves the last place and, with two games left to go to the end of the Serie A regular season, should they win against Scafati on Sunday they would be mathematically safe.
