Reyer’s streak of six consecutive victories comes to an end, thus seeing first place in the rankings disappear. UnaHotels increasingly in crisis: seventh knockout in a row
The 11th round of the championship opens with two crazy matches. Trieste wins 92-82 in overtime, coming back in the last minute of regulation and condemning Reggio Emilia to their seventh consecutive defeat. At the BTS Arena, Trento prevails (96-90), interrupting Venice’s streak of 6 victories in a row, thanks to a third quarter with 33 points and greater clarity at the end. The success allows Cancellieri’s men to continue to hope for qualification for the Italian Cup (here is the ranking).

The crisis of UnaHotels does not end, as they play an excellent match but fall for the seventh time in a row in the championship. Two bloody turnovers were decisive at the end of the match, with the Reggio Emilia team at +5. After a point-to-point start to the match, it was Reggio Emilia that gave the first break to the match. Priftis’ team plays with more energy and capitalizes on several loose balls, with Williams and Uglietti, who score through penetration, while Barford and Caupain make themselves felt from beyond the arc. Trieste loses several balls, suffering the opponent’s defensive intensity. Toscano-Anderson’s triple (19-24 in the 9th minute) interrupts the guest’s 12-0 break. The Giulians find rhythm in the second quarter. Brown and Ramsay score from 6.75, Ross hits penetration, Sissoko and Candussi finish in the area (37-36 at 18′). The home team’s good momentum continued at the start of the second half. Gonzalez’s team raises the defense, runs in transition and scores from the arc with Ramsay, Toscano Anderson and Ross (48-47 in the 24th minute). The guests stop the opponent’s flow (14-2 partial) with the plays of Uglietti and Caupain, capture many rebounds in attack, taking advantage of Sissoko’s injury and overturn the inertia (62-71 in the 33rd minute) after a 6.75 basket from the usual Caupain. Trieste continues to hurt when it runs and comes back to just one possession away in the 38th minute after a triple by Uthoff and a tap in by Brooks (70-73 in the 38th minute). It is still the point guard of Priftis, ex Brescia, who tries to close the discussion with the penetration of 70-75 with 55” from the end. Reggio Emilia, however, lost two heavy balls in the next two plays and received first Uthoff’s triple and then Ramsay’s 2/2 on the line, which was worth 75 all and overtime. In extra time the Giuliani had more and made their energy felt, defending aggressively and circulating the ball. Ross’ triple (85-76 in the 43rd minute) closes the game.
Trieste: Ramsey 25, Toscano-Anderson 16. Ross 14
Reggio Emilia: Caupain 25, Barford 9, Vitali 8
TRENTO-VENICE 96-90

In the crazy race, made up of many partials, Trento prevails at the BTS Arena, rising to 5 victories in Serie A and preventing Venezia from taking the lead for one night. After a balanced start, but full of errors, the script of the match changed in the second quarter, “won” 33-17 by Venezia. The partial was born thanks to the concreteness of Tessitori and Nikolic, who capitalized on the opponent’s turnovers, and the triples of Valentine and Wheatle, who built the +10 (28-38 at 16′). The lagoon players then also reached +15 thanks to two consecutive triples by Cole and a dunk by Horton (35-50 a few seconds before the 20th minute). Trento comes out of the locker room with a different face, manages to run and gets back together with Jogela, who scores from 3 and Steward’s incursions. He is the one who scores the equalizing basket at 57 in the 25th minute, from 6.75. Dolomiti Energia also takes the lead after Jones’ 2/2 free throws (63-59 in the 27th minute). Cancellieri’s men, who was sent off for protesting, defended with intensity and found advantages with the defense deployed, creating space for one-on-ones in attack (82-70 at 33′) after a 2/2 by Steward on the line. The guests didn’t give up and thanks to Wiltjer’s triple, a 4-point play by Bowman and a dunk by Parks on the counterattack, they returned to -2 (85-83 at 36′). Venezia is more reactive on the rebound and benefits from De Nicolao’s defensive plays. Everything is decided in the finale. Bayehe makes it 1/2 on the line (91-90 at 39′), but Reyer fails to overtake again with De Nicolao and Battle makes it 93-90 with 40” to go. Nikolic misses the -1 shot three times in a row and commits a foul. Aldridge is glacial on the line and closes the game.
Trent: Steward 19, Jogela 16, Battle, Jones 15
Venice: Wiltjer 17, Parks 15, Cole 12
