Basketball, Serie A: in advance Treviso dominates in Verona

The guests stretch in the third quarter and spread at the end thanks to the two wingers taking the advantage of the direct confrontation. The home team protests against refereeing due to numerous technical fouls

VERONA-TREVISO 81-97
Treviso conquers the field of Verona by a wide margin and conquers a very heavy success in the race for salvation in this Venetian derby. Marcelo Nicola’s team recovers with interest the defeat in the first leg at Palaverde (77-79) in a match controlled for a long time after the initial Veronese escape: 18-10. Treviso takes control of the match with a very physical defense and lots of plays in the area guarding the rebounds, without ever scoring from 3 until the interval, closed ahead 34-41 after reaching +12.

In the second half Verona completes the comeback with a partial 12-0 between the two central quarters, but the guests return to the lead due to not having already recovered after the last draw at 43-43. In the final quarter captain Zanelli drags Treviso (clear path with 14 points and 5/5 from the field), together with Banks. Verona complains about Attard’s refereeing (4 technicians with a double penalty for Anderson who is thus expelled) and clings to Bortolani: 20 points with 4/7 from the three-point arc for one of the exes in the match. But the hosts never manage to go back beyond -6 and thus remain in the penultimate place, overtaken by Treviso.
Verona: Bortolani 20, Smith 17, Anderson 14
Treviso: Banks 24, Ellis 18, Iroegbu 14.
