The recently weak Dallas Mavericks have beaten the strong Phoenix Suns in the NBA.
At 130:111, the team around star Luka Doncic and national basketball player Maxi Kleber had a lead of up to 27 points and was only behind in the first minutes of the game. By the end of the first quarter, the Mavs were leading 33-15 against the Suns, who had lost just seven games and were leading the Western Conference.
Doncic had 33 points, Spencer Dinwiddie had 21 and Kleber had 8 points. Because of the big lead, Doncic didn’t play at all in the last quarter and was allowed to rest. “I’m really happy,” said Doncic. “I like this.” The Mavericks had not picked up more than two straight wins in the past three weeks and now improved to 12 wins and 11 losses.
Wagner brothers strong
Good performances by Franz Wagner and Moritz Wagner were not enough for the Orlando Magic. The two internationals from Berlin were on the field from the start in the 102:109 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Franz Wagner had 25 points, his brother Moritz Wagner had 19 points and 12 rebounds and ultimately had to leave the field because of a controversial decision with too many fouls. After that, the Magic lacked physicality on defense against Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 34 points.
The Magic had previously reduced their deficit to 4 by 19 points. “It’s just our mentality,” praised Moritz Wagner. “We believe in ourselves, if we do the right thing we can beat anyone.”
