It’s only a matter of days before LeBron James is about to break the NBA’s points record. But even he could not prevent the next defeat of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Basketball superstar LeBron James is getting closer and closer to the points record in the North American NBA league. The 38-year-old scored 27 points for the Los Angeles Lakers against the New Orleans Pelicans, but James was unable to prevent the 126:131 defeat. The Lakers with German national player Dennis Schröder had recently won twice in the race for a playoff spot.
James was on the field for almost the entire season. He is just 36 points short of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s points record. “I’m tired as usual but ready for Tuesday,” said James after the game. Then the Lakers receive the Oklahoma City Thunder. Schröder only scored seven points but was the Lakers’ best assist with ten assists.
Dallas loses without Doncic
However, the best man of the evening came from the Pelicans: Brandon Ingram scored a strong 35 points after an injury break of almost two months. It was the first win for New Orleans after ten defeats, and the Pelicans are also fighting for the playoffs.
Just like Los Angeles, the New York Knicks left the field as losers after their last two wins. The team with the German professional Isaiah Hartenstein lost against the Los Angeles Clippers 128:134 after overtime. Hartenstein has five points and, along with Julius Randle, is the only Knicks player to have played all 54 games this season.
Without their injured Slovenian star Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks were beaten 113-119 by the Golden State Warriors. Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was his team’s top pitcher with 21 points, but left the field injured after a collision in the third quarter. But even without Curry, Golden State had the game under control at all times. The champions tied Dallas in sixth place in the Western Conference with the win.
