Basketball Euroleague: Nyara Sabally with Prague in the Final Four

As of: March 6, 2024 9:18 p.m

National basketball player Nyara Sabally made it into the Final Four of the Euroleague with her club ZVVZ USK Prague and is reaching for the highest European title.

Basketball-National player Nyara Sabally led the Czech club ZVVZ USK Prague to the Euroleague Final Four in her first season. This gives her the chance – like her sister Satou – to win the most valuable title in European club basketball.

The team from Prague beat Beretta Famila Schio from Italy 74:54 (34:25) in the decisive third quarter-final game on Wednesday evening (March 6, 2024) and won the series 2-1. Sabally was the game’s top scorer with 19 points, even though she was only on the floor for 19:33 minutes, and she also grabbed seven rebounds.

Nyara Sabally in the Final Four – like sister Satou

With her entry into the final, the 24-year-old from Berlin is following in the footsteps of her older sister. Satou Sabally (25) played twice in the final tournament with Fenerbahce Istanbul. In 2021 she came third in the Turkish club’s jersey and won the title in 2023.

The sisters, who won their Olympic ticket with the German national team in February, are also under contract in the WNBA – but play for other clubs overseas during the US professional league’s break. Satou (Dallas Wings) played for Shandong Shangao BC/China until the end. Nyara (New York Liberty) signed in Prague last year.

The Prague women will play in the semi-finals of the Euroleague on April 12th against French club Villeneuve d’Ascq. In the other semi-final there will be an all-Turkish duel between Fernerbahce and Cukurova Mersin. The final will take place on April 14th.
